1. Greetings, I've had a full July and was looking forward to a restive August when I read the following. According to Paula Berliner we should prepare for a build-up of energies that may leave us feeling as if we are living in a pressure cooker. This apparently is the result of Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Venus being in the constellation of the Crab and the progression of Venus toward Jupiter for a monumental conjunction. We may experience this as a sense of a lack of time. If this is the case, it may be wise to remember this with the ones closest to us … I'm thinking of Dale's DIY list that never seems to get any shorter no matter how much he does or how long he works. Very frustrating. It may well be a good time to readjust our priorities too and to take time for ourselves.
May you all enjoy the last of the summer months.

2. Massage
I would like to share with you this description of massage that I found in a book I bought recently `A Massage Therapist's Guide to Pathology' by Ruth Werner. “Massage practitioners speak in a language of touch. The messages practitioners give are invitations to a number of different possibilities: to enjoy a state of well-being, to heal and repair what is broken, and to reacquaint a client with his or her own body. All of this happens through the skin: a medium that is equipped like no other tissue in the body to take in information and respond to it, mostly on a subconscious level…”
In my experience there are times in life when a good massage is exactly what is needed - to move and strip out aching muscles and help the flow of lymph and blood and to release, relax and heal body, mind and spirit. I have requests for many different combinations of massage - full body; back, neck and shoulders; limbs only, back, neck, shoulders and arms; massage and CST; massage and SomatoEmotional Release, massage and Reiki.

3. Blood Type All : Dates are a good source of iron and calcium and when dried are richer in potassium than when fresh. They also contain a concentrated source of niacin, copper and magnesium and are a gentle laxative. They contain tyramine which can trigger migraine in susceptible people. According to Peter D'Adamo dates are neutral for all blood types except `O' non-secretor and they should be avoided. [Perhaps this is the group who would be susceptible to migraine.]

4. A 'true' story from a US newspaper... Depressed Man Diagnosed as 'Scottish'
[I was trawling the web one day for information about depression and came across this article in at least 6 different sites!!]
“Alistair McGregor, an expatriate Scottish man living in America, was recently diagnosed as clinically depressed, tanked up on anti-depressants and scheduled for controversial Shock Therapy when doctors realized he wasn't depressed at all... only Scottish.
Mr. McGregor, a Scottish man whose characteristic pessimism and gloomy perspective were interpreted as serious clinical depression, was led on a nightmare journey through the American psychiatric system.
Doctors described McGregor as suffering from Pervasive Negative Anticipation - a belief that everything will turn out for the worst, whether it's trains arriving late, Scotland's chances at winning any international sports event or even his own prospects to get ahead in life and achieve his dreams.
"The satisfaction Mr. McGregor seemed to get from his pessimism seemed particularly pathological," reported the doctors.
"They put me on everything - Lithium, Prozac, St John's Wort, Ginseng", said Mr. McGregor. "They even told me to sit in front of a big light for an hour a day or I'd become suicidal. I kept telling them this was all pointless and they said it was exactly that sort of attitude which got me here in the first place."
Running out of ideas, his doctors finally resorted to a course of "weapons grade MDMA", the only noticeable effect of which was six hours of speedy repetitions of the phrases "mustn't grumble" and "not too bad, really."
Mr. McGregor had six months of therapy but seemed to mainly want to talk about the weather - how miserable and cold it was in winter and later how difficult and wet it was in summer. The doctors felt he wasn't responding to therapy at all and so recommended drastic action - namely ECT or shock treatment.
"I was all strapped down on the table and they were about to put the rubber bit in my mouth when the psychiatric nurse picked up on my accent," said Mr. McGregor. "I remember her saying 'Oh my God, I think we're making a terrible mistake'." Nurse Alice Sheen was a big fan of Scottish comedy giving her an understanding of the Scottish psyche. "Classic comedy characters like Chick Murray, Will Fife and The Crankies, all hopeless cases with no chance of ever doing well or escaping their circumstances," she explained to the baffled US medics. "In Scotland, being depressed to the point of suicidal is considered the norm and is not seen as pathological at all." Identifying Mr. McGregor as Scottish changed his diagnosis from 'clinical depression' to 'rather quaint and charming' and he was immediately discharged from hospital, with a selection of brightly colored leaflets and an "I love New York" T-shirt.

"I am quite often asked: How do you feel about having ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)? The answer is, not a lot. I have had motor neurone disease for practically all my adult life. Yet it has not prevented me from having a very attractive family, and being successful in my work. This is thanks to the help I have received from Jane, my children, and a large number of other people and organisations. I have been lucky that my condition has progressed more slowly than is often the case. But it shows that one need not lose hope.”

5. Home Remedies : Apple Cider Vinegar
I found the following information on the web, (another apple cider vinegar recipe) from Carol, of Republic, Washington.
"Here is the `cure what ails you' that I give to my students, and they all use it and are back to the books/ or playing for the basketball team! It has an immediate effect for some.
3 TB Apple Cider Vinegar
3 TB lemon juice, fresh squeezed if possible
2 TB honey
You can add 1/4 tsp cayenne, and 1/4 tsp fresh ginger also if the first three ingredients don't work right away.
Mix in a little warmed water to liquefy, drink, and then rinse the teeth thoroughly. After the initial rush, you can drink warm tea, or water to settle the stomach. Most have an immediate reaction where they get their voice back and clear out the mucus in their nose and throat. Try it, all the kids do, and now even their moms drink it and swear by it! One mom even works at the medical clinic and uses my cure instead of the doctor's one."
A suggestion from Earth Clinic to protect your teeth: Drink ACV with a straw at the back of the throat slowly. The trick is to not let the liquid touch your teeth.
P.S. Feedback from a client of mine. She gave her son, who suffers from hay fever, the capsules and his hayfever has improved.

6. Life Coaching : Life and Laundry
Everything you need to know about renewing your life and reviving your spirit you can learn from your laundry.
First, laundry does not do itself. If you try to kick it under the bed or hide it in your closet, all you get is a smelly room. If you try to avoid your problems, they start to smell, too.
Second, remember that hot water makes things shrink and fade. Warm or cool water keeps them fresh. This is true when your spouse is angry at you, too.
Many stains don't come out the first time. Sometimes they never do. So choose: wear them anyway, make up a great story about how you got the stains, or cut up the clothes and use them as rags to wash your car. This is also true with your life. When people or situations get stained, things may have to be transformed or seen in a new light if you don't want to discard them.
As you're doing laundry, listen. When the machine sounds like it's an African tribe playing the drums, your load is off-balance. If you don't stop the machine and redistribute the load, you'll end up with a huge repair bill or having to buy a new washer altogether. The same is true with your body. If you overload it without rebalancing, it'll cost you.
Always do your laundry between other tasks. Never make it your first priority, or you'll find that while you were working, your family went outside to play and you missed all the fun.
Bright clothes look great in the store, but if you don't bathe them in cool water, they'll bleed all over everything. The same is true for flashy cars, killer relationships and deals that sound too good to be true. Acquire them if you like, but keep some cold water nearby, just in case.
Yes, socks do wash out to sea. This is one of life's great mysteries, but it is true. You put them in as a pair, but they come out single. Sometimes relationships work out this way, too.
Mend rips and tears before a good machine scrubbing makes them worse. Do this, too, with broken hearts, especially those of children. Nicks are relatively easy to repair. Harsh words and punishments might make them fall apart altogether.
When you can, hang your laundry in the sunshine. Fresh air and a warm day can do wonders for just about anything, including your own spirit.
Finally, as you get older, realize that a new washing machine isn't going to make your clothes come out any cleaner. It just costs more than your old one. Ask anyone who's divorced.
In conclusion, remember that life is a lot like laundry. Just when you think you're done, you find another pair of socks or end up using your last clean towel to wipe off the dog's paws. Don't worry. The Laundromat's open seven days a week.
